Leon – October 22, 2016

Bright and early we got a taxi to schlep our luggage to the train station.   The lady at the desk recognized us and made sure we got the right train.  It was a scenic ride north to Oviedo through some very rugged mountains, which we were very glad we were not walking through.

Oviedo is a town that we both loved last time we were here.  This time we could only walk the couple blocks from the train station to the bus station where caught a bus to Asturias where the nearest airport to Leon is located.

Asturias seems to have a very small, not busy, airport.  Because of the train and bus schedules we were to spend nine hours there, and for much of that time, we were the only people present – if you don’t count the bored lady at the souvenir stand.  Finally at 9:30 PM we were on our way to England and the end of this phase of our Spanish Camino adventure.

  1. Surprised to read this comment as I thought you were home in Victoria ages ago. Assume you are heading to Toronto for Christmas with family. No need to hurry back here as it is very cold and snowy, although our neighbour’s cherry tree is in full bloom. Seems we have a “global warming” conflict….cooler than normal temps but blossoms ahead of schedule. Can we still blame Trump for this?
Safe journey home…Merry, Merry and all the best in 2017..
