Leon – October 22, 2016

Bright and early we got a taxi to schlep our luggage to the train station.   The lady at the desk recognized us and made sure we got the right train.  It was a scenic ride north to Oviedo through some very rugged mountains, which we were very glad we were not walking through.

Oviedo is a town that we both loved last time we were here.  This time we could only walk the couple blocks from the train station to the bus station where caught a bus to Asturias where the nearest airport to Leon is located.

Asturias seems to have a very small, not busy, airport.  Because of the train and bus schedules we were to spend nine hours there, and for much of that time, we were the only people present – if you don’t count the bored lady at the souvenir stand.  Finally at 9:30 PM we were on our way to England and the end of this phase of our Spanish Camino adventure.

Leon – October 21, 2016

After some medical drama in the middle of the night, by noon Vic was feeling well enough for us to go out for a walk.  We went to find the train station for tomorrow’s journey to the airport.  You would think a train station wouldn’t be hard to find, but it wasn’t exactly where it should be.

The lady at the desk sold us tickets for tomorrow’s train, so all is well.
